Report: Paul Ryan May Personally Benefit From Preserving Billions In Taxpayer Oil Subsidies--Think Progress

Report: Paul Ryan May Personally Benefit From Preserving Billions In Taxpayer Oil Subsidies: "Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), the architect of the GOP budget plan, has put forth a plan that calls for ending a number of tax subsidies. However, he has hedged multiple times when asked about oil subsidies. When given the opportunity to end billions in taxpayer giveaways to big oil companies, Ryan voted to preserve the Read more"

Major policy shifts shape state spending plan

In the state budget are cuts to higher education, giant changes in Medicaid which may effect the most vulnerable and even seniors in nursing homes. It short changes mental health services with possibly disastrous outcomes. Of course the tax breaks will go to high income and businesses.

Privitzation of prisons, may cause Ohio to be less safe, with a higher incarceration rate. If you want to know more on the fiasco about privatized prisons press here.

Businesses, such as American Greetings who received millions from Ohio, never had confirmed offers from other states.

America's Dirty Little Secret--Motivated In Ohio

I found this map on income inequality, and thought that this would be a good topic for me to write about.  As you can see, income inequality has risen dramatically in the U.S.  The American People are not greedy, as some people say, or lazy as others say.  They simply want the deck not to be stacked against them.

I was on Twitter yesterday, and I was looking at #Americandream.  Most people's American Dreams, were to be able to take care of their families, have healthcare, and not to have our democracy sold to the highest bidder.

Many Americans are now simply in survival mode, with little hope of things changing.  This was dramatically shown when over one million people applied at McDonald's for 62,000 jobs.  Speculation in oil by the Koch brothers and others have driven up gas prices.  Food speculation is running rampant.  Deregulation and "Free Markets" have failed us.  It is time for us to take a different direction.  We need to shout it from the roof tops, write our elected officials, and quit blaming the person who actually has some benefits left.

Right Wing and Fascism Yesterday and Today

Republicans have been trying to get rid of Social Security since its inception. They even had a coup against FDR in 1934, led by Prescott Bush, (G.W.'s grandfather)

Before WWII, The right wing of the Republicans, wanted to stay out of the war, so that they could do business with Hitler, pappy Koch was working with Stalin on Oil.

They even had their own mascot for religion, Father Charles Coughlin, the antisemetic priest, filled the airwaves with a vitriol that is only rivaled by Beck and Limbaugh today. He even went so far as to promote the theories of Hitler and Mussolini.  The current economy and political landscape is very much the same.

This isn't new. But it seems since we didn't learn anything from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

Medicare is on the table, what is wrong with these people.

In the last ten years we have had the greatest redistribution of wealth, from poor and middle class, to the ultra rich. We gave the rich a tax cut, and jobs weren't created, deficits were. Since we paid for the rich peoples tax cuts, they can pay for our deficit.

Without the Bush tax cuts, there would be no deficit. It would have been paid off by now.

GOP Cuts To Food Aid For Seniors And Food Banks Equals One Day Of Bush Tax Cuts For Millionaires | ThinkProgress

The Koch's need more money, so grandma can starve.

This shows where are priorities are as a nation.  To keep the Bush Tax cuts for the wealthy, this is what we have to give up.  I for one would rather see an elderly or shut in get a meal, than have the Koch Brothers keep more money, so they can fund our politicians into believing that pollution is good.

Disqus Topic of the Day--June 15--Taking care of Our Home (Combating Pollution)

With the Republicans wanting to get rid of the EPA, and the effects of climate change happening, what can we do to educate the public, and combat pollution, here and around the world?

"Polluted drinking waters are a problem for about half of the world’s population. Each year there are about 250 million cases of water-based diseases, resulting in roughly 5 to 10 million deaths."

"Death is Not the Only Toll of Exposure to Pollutants

Pollution causes chronic illness, neurological damage and shortened lifespan. For instance, the presence of lead in children lowers I.Q. by an estimated 4-7 points for each increase of 10 μg/dL.3 Our database identifies populations around the globe with blood lead levels ranging from 50 -100 μg/dL, up to 10 times the WHO reference levels for protection against neurological damage."

How the Right Views Liberals

Today, I just found a site on Twitter that chilled me. On the site, (I wish I had saved it), the author said, that all media, except Fox, was against the country. While I do believe that corporate interests control the media, I don't think that Fox is an exception, I believe they are worse. (Sheppard Smith, seems to be a real news anchor).

So, I did a search on why people like Fox News and what the right thinks about liberals. The results were chilling.

1. They believe we kill babies. (I assume that is because we leave the abortion question up to the woman, not the government.) I haven't seen any liberals, rounding up women and forcing them to have abortions, and not all the women who have abortions are liberal.

2. They believe that Liberals do not contribute more to charity. I know Ann Coulter has been saying this for years, but I haven't found anything to back it up. Check out Rick Perry's charitable donations

3. They believe that all Liberals are Atheists. Just because we don't hate people who question faith, doesn't mean that none of us have it. We believe that is a personal choice.

4. They think that Liberals hate people who are successful. While most Liberals do want the well off to pay at least the same percentage of income in tax, that the median income pays, (I think they should pay more) we all want success, we just don't always agree on what it is. A teacher, who doesn't make great financial gains, can be more of a success, than a billionaire. We also, don't want people with tons of money, starting "grass roots" organizations, to pollute our planet, and take away our rights.

I understand, a little better what these people think, but most of them are not rich, they are following Ralph Reed.  Watch This for more information on him.  Or following Ayn Rand.

Kentucky swimming pool bans gays citing the Bible. I called the City of Hazard and asked if this was normal. |

I am going to have to ask my friend Cletis L. Stump, to write these people a letter. This is wrong, stupid, and illegal. Don't use religious beliefs to justify bigotry, It just gives all people of faith a bad name.

ProgressOhio In The News: New Bill Would Allow Concealed Carry At Daycare Centers, College Campuses - ProgressOhio

What are these people thinking? They don't seem to be thinking. I am not anti-gun, but do they really want a parent who is involved in a custody dispute, showing up at daycare, with a gun?  Do they want a young person, who is mentally unstable, to get their grades while carrying a gun?  This is just dumb.

This guy is so out of touch, that he thinks he is the only person who has limited time, and wants to watch his child play ball. How about the people who can't get off work, even without pay, to see their child play. What about the countless others who have to spend time in traffic. This guy is so out of touch, that he only knows what the millionaires want. The fact that he sent the limo to take him a 100 yards, tells me about his sense of entitlement.

A Few Words About the Republican Platform--BigGuyDon

Not sure how Republicans can run against healthcare now that their own plan is so widely panned.

To the Elderly: "Two years ago we tried to scare you about a plan that had little to no impact on you, just widened the group of Americans that will get the same services you are already on. Now, we are championing a plan that actually will take services away from and open you up to paying for your own costs at the time when you can least afford it and are most likely to need it. Oh, and we're doing all this so we can lower taxes on the rich (again). But vote for us because 'Obamacare' sounds so scaaaaaaarrry".

I think the tag line for Ryan's plan should be "this plan won't need death panels because Granny's death is built right into the plan".

How Religious Right Brainwash kids with Creationism

Religious instruction is an important aspect of life for people throughout the world but what Ken Ham has done, and continues to do, is far more an act of brainwashing than instruction. Children do not belong to their parents. They are given to their parents to be protected so they may grow to be caring, independent adults. The techniques employed by Ham and many others have the opposite effect and border on child abuse. Ham is a snake oil salesman of old and a catchy tune does not make behemoth a dinosaur.

Thank you Cletis, for the wonderful explanation.  It is my personal belief, that arguing about evolution versus creationism, keeps us from ever focusing on the tough stuff, like "Love Your Neighbor as Yourself."
