Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s Medicaid Cuts Leave 2,800 Nurses In Nursing Homes Without A Job: Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s “new way” of creating jobs has left something to be desired — namely, jobs. Kasich has killed projects that promised to create jobs in favor of policies that are sure to stunt job creation. Now with a state facing an overall loss of 400,000 jobs and an unemployment rate of 9 [...]/ Read More Here

Weather Bombs Hit US, Canada, and UK: ‘Time Is Really Running Short’ To Limit Warming And Its Catastrophic Effects
Weather Bombs Hit US, Canada, and UK: ‘Time Is Really Running Short’ To Limit Warming And Its Catastrophic Effects: In the last 24 hours, historic weather bombs have struck North America and Scotland, powered by unchecked levels of carbon pollution. The freak weather disasters are another deadly reminder to the Durban climate talks that dangerous interference with the climate system is an urgent reality. Why I Have been learning to grow my own food, make my laundry detergent, and dishwasher detergent.
Several years ago, I realized that most of the things that I bought came from China, Indonesia, or some other country. So I then started looking at the labels when I bought. Grocery shopping takes forever, I had to change my toothpaste, deodorant, and many of the other brands that I bought.
As I started to read the labels, I realized that most food products had tons of refined sugar, hydrogenated fats, msg and a lot of other things that I do not want to eat. So I started a garden one spring. The food that was grown on my little patch of earth, was far better than anything I had ever found in a supermarket. Peas were almost as sweet as candy. Sweet Corn was irresistible and cucumbers were my favorite snack. I realized that I had more energy than before.
I froze and canned the produce, and now have a wonderful cache of home grown food. I recommend Ball Canning Jars since they are made in the U.S.A. When fall came, and the leaves were raked, I thought that there may be other ways to live better by doing things myself, so I made my own laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent and have ordered the spores to make Shiitake Mushrooms (I'll tell you how that goes.)

Underground Politics: The So Called 'War on Christmas'
Underground Politics: The So Called 'War on Christmas'
You want to see the war on Christmas? How about how Black Friday turns some people into a bunch of monsters that pepper spray, trample and beat other people to get gifts for other people. Or maybe just for themselves. That is the war on Christmas. The fact that the 1% turns some people from the 99% into a bunch of crazies that don't give a shit about other peoples well being while shopping on Black Friday. Just so they can make another buck at your expense. Read More Here

Koch Political Group Brags About Bullying GOP Lawmakers Into Denying Climate Science
Koch Political Group Brags About Bullying GOP Lawmakers Into Denying Climate Science: In its cover story this week, the National Journal explores a curious phenomenon: while the science supporting climate change has only gotten stronger, the onetime Republican consensus on the issue has fallen apart. The reason, quite simply, is the right-wing polluter Koch Industries and its political front group Americans for Prosperity. As Political Correction notes, [...]/ Read More Here

Why Haven't We Stood Up For Our Rights?--Motivated In Ohio
When the Patriot Act was passed, I remember telling a friend that we had just started a downhill slide to the bottom. He didn't understand, did I want bombers moving in next to me? Of course not, but if the rights of the worst do not go through due process, it will only be a short time until the rights of the best of us are gone too.
We have allowed water boarding of prisoners, and now people are having conversations about whether pepper spray is an appropriate response to people exercising free speech. It is not. In LA, people are having to take classes on the first amendment (reeducation) in order to avoid charges.
In Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker wants to charge people for free speech, going so far as to potentially charging people for the pepper spray used on them.
In the meantime, while flesh and blood people are not allowed to speak, the Supreme Court says that Corporations have unlimited free speech, with the case of Citizens United vs. FEC. We have given up our rights by not protesting before, and the time has come to get them back. Lets Occupy K Street as well as Occupy Wall Street.

City Attorney's criminal branch Chief Earl Thomas tells the Weekly virtually no one is getting off scot-free.
He said that while about 175 people were released today they could still be charged. Those folks were determined to be eligible for the Alternative Prosecution Program, a 90-day love fest in which suspects can enroll and avoid prosecution. Read More Here

It’s “Extremely Likely That at Least 74% of Observed Warming Since 1950″ Was Manmade; It’s Highly Likely All of It Was: Back in 2009, NASA’s Gavin Schmidt was asked, “what percentage of global warming is due to human causes vs. natural causes?” His answer: Over the last 40 or so years, natural drivers would have caused cooling, and so the warming there has been … caused by a combination of human drivers and some degree of [...]/ Read More Here

What are the Republicans giving us for Christmas?--Motivated In Ohio
The Christmas tree is up, the lights are hung, the ornaments carefully placed. It is the season of Christmas. The Republicans may be giving us a gift of a tax hike. Rather than raise the taxes on people who are most able to afford it, they are allowing the payroll tax to raise rather than keep it at its present level for another year. The other alternative they have presented, is to cut even more services in these difficult times rather than bother a few millionaires and billionaires with a little bit of taxes.
With heating assistance cut in half, what are people who are in dire straits to do? That is why I urge anyone who can afford to give, to give to the charity of their choice that helps people this Christmas season. Because in my opinion, the war on Christmas, is not saying "Happy Holidays" it is ignoring the plight of the less fortunate while saying "Merry Christmas".

Are we all going to have to rob banks for health care?--Motivated in Ohio
With jobs with health care seeming to end in this country, and more and more companies hiring people on a part time basis so that they can skip paying benefits what is the average person to do? Each year in this country, 45,000 people die because they have no insurance.
The Republicans want to shift much of the cost of Medicare onto the backs of Seniors on fixed incomes and put them at the mercy of the market.
The GOP are so out of touch with the average person, that they seem to be from another planet. They wish to get rid of the "Great Society". The seem to want people to die on the street. This is wrong.
The Republicans want to shift much of the cost of Medicare onto the backs of Seniors on fixed incomes and put them at the mercy of the market.
"The Ryan proposal would eliminate the package of benefits that everyone receives but would allow seniors to choose from a variety of plans with different benefits, different premiums and different co-payment obligations,"American Airlines just declared bankruptcy in what appears to be a ploy to steal pensions. Is the only option left, if a person gets sick is to rob a bank for health care, like the man in North Carolina .

Rick Perry Fails Govt 101: Claims Executive Orders Can Repeal Laws Passed By Congress: During Mike Huckabee’s Presidential Forum on Saturday night, Rick Perry repeatedly insisted that the president has the authority to block the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, despite a recent Government Accountability Office report finding to the contrary. “The executive order obviously gives you that authority,” Perry repeated four different times to Virginia Attorney General [...]/ Read More Here
