Underground Politics: Abortions, Murdering of Pregnant Women & Miscarriages in the Bible Carried Out Or Prayed For In The Name Of God
Underground Politics: Abortions, Murdering of Pregnant Women & Miscarriages in the Bible Carried Out Or Prayed For In The Name Of God
The abortion debate has been going on in this country for a long time. Me, I feel that it shouldn't be used as birth control. But who am I to look at a woman who's a victim of incest, rape or her life is in danger and tell her what to do? I don't know what I'd do in that situation, so I'm not going to tell someone else what to do. Read More Here

Three myths about the detention bill - Salon.com
Three myths about the detention bill - Salon.com
Condemnation of President Obama is intense, and growing, as a result of his announced intent to sign into law the indefinite detention billembedded in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). These denunciations come not only from the nation’s leading civil liberties andhuman rights groups, but also from the pro-Obama New York Times Editorial Page, which today has a scathing Editorial describing Obama’s stance as “a complete political cave-in, one that reinforces the impression of a fumbling presidency” and lamenting that “the bill has so many other objectionable aspects that we can’t go into them all,” as well as from vocal Obama supporters such as Andrew Sullivan, who wrote yesterday that this episode is “another sign that his campaign pledge to be vigilant about civil liberties in the war on terror was a lie.” In damage control mode, White-House-allied groups are now trying to ride to the rescue with attacks on the ACLU and dismissive belittling of the bill’s dangers. Two Republican Staff Members Were Paid $210,000 to Staff the State Redistricting Committee
Two Republican staff members received a combined $210,000 to serve for three months as the secretaries for the Legislative Task Force on Redistricting. While it was assumed that both staff members would serve in their positions as state employees, instead the Republican members of the Task Force entered into contracts with their respective private companies and paid them $105,000 a piece. Bail-out Bombshell: Fed "Emergency" Bank Rescue Totaled $29 Trillion Over Three Years | Economy | AlterNet
While the 99% suffered hardship, a new study shows that the Fed propped up buddies in the banking industry and a vast shadow banking system far beyond what anyone has guessed.
Speculation about the the Fed’s actions during the financial crisis has made headlines on and off again over the last several years. The latest drama occurred on November 27 when Bloomberg published an article, “Secret Fed Loans Gave Banks $13 Billion Undisclosed to Congress," which gives an account of the news agency’s struggle to bring to light the details of the Fed’s emergency programs. Bloomberg throws out some very large numbers, revealing that as of March 2009, the Fed lent, spent, or committed $7.77 trillion worth of aid to the financial system and that banks used the low interest rates charged on these loans to make an estimated $13 billion in income. Statewide Budget Cuts Force Ohio Town To Turn Off Street Lights To Save Money
Statewide Budget Cuts Force Ohio Town To Turn Off Street Lights To Save Money: In the aftermath of the recession, states across the country have cut their budgets, in turn forcing cities and towns in those states to make their own drastic cuts. Different towns have made different decisions, with some closing libraries, un-paving roads, closing schools, and even attempting to decriminalize domestic violence, all in efforts to save [...]/ Read More Here

Welcome to the Police State--Motivated In Ohio
Personally, I don't care for the Westboro Baptist Church protesting at soldiers' funerals. I disagree with everything that they say. I will, however, fight for their right to say it.
People protesting Wall Street seem to get much less leniency. That is what happens in this country when you go after people in power. You get beaten, pepper sprayed, and arrested.
The biggest threat to our freedom is in the Defense Authorization Bill. This would allow for U.S. Citizens to be placed in military detention without due process. People who are conspiring to enact terrorism need to be in custody but not without due process. We need to separate the people who actually do bad acts from the ones who are just accused of doing them.
One by one, we have been giving up our rights in the name of safety. My thoughts can be summed up with a quote:
[Update: It seems the bill is not as bad as it first appeared. Please read this at Mother Jones for more info. http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2011/12/nitty-gritty-ndaa--MIO]

The Return Of Debtor’s Prisons: Thousands Of Americans Jailed For Not Paying Their Bills
The Return Of Debtor’s Prisons: Thousands Of Americans Jailed For Not Paying Their Bills: Federal imprisonment for unpaid debt has been illegal in the U.S. since 1833. It’s a practice people associate more with the age of Dickens than modern-day America. But as more Americans struggle to pay their bills in the wake of the recession, collection agencies are using harsher methods to get their money, ushering in the [...]/ Read More Here

Documents Show Boehner Helped Gerrymander Ohio Map Giving GOP 12 of 16 Congressional Seats
Documents Show Boehner Helped Gerrymander Ohio Map Giving GOP 12 of 16 Congressional Seats: The GOP-controlled Ohio legislature recently approved a heavily gerrymandered Congressional map that gives Republicans an advantage in 12 of the state’s 16 congressional districts, despite the fact that the state is roughly evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. Moreover, according to newly released documents, Ohio residents can blame the Speaker of the House for turning [...]/ Read More Here

Emails Suggest Ohio’s New Republican-Friendly Maps Save the GOP ‘Millions’--ProPublica
by Lois Beckett for Pro Publica
As we’ve been documenting in our ongoing series, political parties and other powerful players use the once-a-decade redistricting process to advance their own goals—often at the expense of voters.
A recently released trove of e-mails from Ohio offers a rare inside glimpse into how it works.
The e-mails, sent from June to September, show collaboration between the national GOP and state Republicans to re-draw Ohio’s map and thus cement control of both the statehouse and a majority of congressional districts.
In one of the emails, a Republican consultant working on redistricting for the state suggested that the new political maps could save the GOP “millions" of dollars in campaign funds by making districts safer for Republican candidates.

How the right wing is trying to weaken the Democratic Base--Motivated In Ohio
The right wants to take over the discussion. At Red State, they have a step by step article on how to infiltrate the discussion boards and change the dialog.
- "First, infiltrate the site. For this, you will have to avoid creating screen names like “GoPalinGo” or “Heartlandredstater.”
- "Once you are there, the second part of the strategy is to gain their trust. For this, you cannot be too overtly gung-ho conservative in your outlook."
- "The third step is to move the conversation in the direction you desire. By doing this, you can then form the debate in terms you can win."
- "Once there, you can then highjack the thread. In effect, you have changed the subject and tenor or the conversation and the writer of the original post has lost their ability to moderate the conversation and that creates a free-for-all that gets the conversation far off the original mark. Of course, you will be accused of “threadjacking” or, worse (drumrolls please…) being a “troll.”
- "To put it bluntly: Embrace your inner troll."
I noticed that the discussion boards were taken over by trolls, I now have proof that it is a coordinated effort.

Indefinite Detention of American Citizens: Coming Soon to Battlefield U.S.A. | Matt Taibbi | Rolling Stone
There’s some disturbing rhetoric flying around in the debate over the National Defense Authorization Act, which among other things contains passages that a) officially codify the already-accepted practice of indefinite detention of "terrorist" suspects, and b) transfer the responsibility for such detentions exclusively to the military.
